What problem or issue does GLP address?
Problem:
Jet is in the top 10% of his class. He has studied English for 3 years. And yet he does not even know the words ‘Good morning’.
With an education like this, what options does Jet really have for his future?
The average national test score in his country is 30 out of 100 (random guessing would get 25).
Most teachers fail in national exams on the subject they teach.
Well-off parents send their kids to tutoring centers which teach more effectively than school. The poor cannot afford this. Their children perform worse academically; many remain poor as adult. It’s an inter-generational vicious cycle.
Furthermore, important practical knowledge which affects life conditions, e.g. accounting & money management, is scarce in underdeveloped regions.
The problem is widespread in the developing world and even in some developed countries.
The world severely lacks qualified, inspiring teachers.
